Our little guy is now 7 weeks old!!  I am so excited to show you his nursery!! As you can see, the spare room was just a spot for whatever stuff we had lying around. It felt good to dedicate this room to a nursery, get a inspiration board together and see what a difference it can make, once we moved everything in!

First we had to brighten up the room, we used Oyster from the Sarah Richardson Paint Collection. I picked it out by comparing it to the curtain fabric, glider, Avalisa prints and crib bedding. It made it much easier to pick a colour because you will find that some of your favourite paint colours may not work once you put them in the room with your key pieces.

I bought the glider off a friend at work who was done with it after one baby, cost me $200. It wasn’t my top pick for fabric but it was still a neutral and I was able to make it work by bringing in a paint colour for the walls and accent tables that worked with the fabric.

I wanted a soft pattern for the drapery, I went to Designers Fabrics and left empty handed then I found this small Ikat print at Tonic Living online. My mom made the panels, Thanks Mom!

You might remember this post, where I talked about finding the dresser years ago at the Christie Antique Sale. Well I was finally able to use it, just needed a change pad topper. The ones I found online were so expensive, so I just got Matt to make it, it was super easy… I will give more details in a later post.

The mirror was from a local thrift store and we painted it to match the side table (that we got at the Christie Antique Sale for $10!) and corner bookshelf. The corner bookshelf was my Grandma’s, she always wanted me to have it, I thought it would be perfect in the nursery… I did have to ask her permission if I could paint it;) The book ledges are from IKEA.

I knew I wanted the Jenny Lind crib, I absolutely love white cribs and this is a classic design that I can use for the next baby or re-paint it. The crib worked well with the Dwell Studio Galaxy bedding.

The Avalisa prints fit in perfectly above the crib, it’s amazing how visually stimulating they are – I have already seen him looking at the prints when he is in his room. I also love the white framed prints hanging on the opposite wall. I found the Donald Duck baseball print at the Christie Antique show, the You are my sunshine print is from esty, this print meant a lot to me… my Mom used to sing this song to me often when I was a little girl! I also have a personal attachment to the book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” so I was happy to find this print here.

I was able to use some of the accessories I found at last spring’s Antique sale, this was the time I met Tommy Smythe, Jennifer from Rambling Renovators and Amy from Love on Sunday. You can read more about the day here. As for filling in the spaces on the shelves, I didn’t really know where to start so I just went to Anthropologie. I was happy to find this book – you ask your child 365 questions over 3 years, it is like a time capsule of your child’s thoughts about what is going on around him. My favourite item on the shelves is the vintage clock, it was a gift from my Mom. She found it at St. Jacob’s Farmers’ Market, she set it to the time he was born…. so sweet.

I searched for days trying to find the perfect ceiling light but couldn’t find anything that I loved or it was just too expensive. Then I was at IKEA and found this, it was a great fit for the nursery and it was only $40!! The table lamp is from Homesense, I bought it after reading about this lamp in this post over at Just Bella, thanks Christine!

I’m definitely happy hanging out in this room, even if it’s 4 AM:)
