Summer maternity style

Since finding out I was pregnant I was always excited to wear maternity clothes. What I found is that there are some really great pieces out there and some awful ones. I found that a lot of people will say that they don’t want to spend money on clothes that they are only going to wear for one season, I never understood that because you don’t have to go out and only buy designer jeans and tops. If you buy the right pieces, it doesn’t have to cost too much! Your body is going to change whether you like it or not and even though I love being pregnant, I wouldn’t feel as great walking out of the house in a frumpy top or poor-fitting outfit.

Here are some great options that I bought and loved from late spring to summer

Imanimo

Imanimo– I bought these dresses from Gilt actually, it’s usually pretty difficult to get clothing shipped to Canada because even if it’s a great sale, you end up paying so much $ in duty, with Gilt the duty is included and it’s really reasonable! I got all of these dresses for almost 50% off but I would have paid full price because they are really comfortable and flattering.

ASOS

ASOS– I really like ASOS for casual wear and work pieces, the prices are really low. I feel like I should have bought more tops for work, so with 6 weeks left, I might buy 1 or 2 more tops;) Again, shipping to Canada is really convenient as the shipping is free (comes from the UK)! Amazing! For sizing I’m usually an 8 or 10 US (size Medium) so I ordered UK 14 and it worked. The navy dress is one that Kate Middleton wore, it is so comfortable, great fit and not short (I’m 5’10”).

Pants… I bought a full length and crop pants from Thyme Maternity for work, I didn’t like anything else from the store really. I am able to wear all of my lululemon bottoms throughout my pregnancy which is great. I bought a few tops, these leggings and this dress from shopbop maternity.  Make sure to get some maternity tank tops because you can wear them at work or going out with different pieces from your regular wardrobe. I also bought some maternity foldover skirts from Old Navy and a pair of jeans from the Gap.

So before you start shopping I suggest that you look in your existing wardrobe to see what still works with your bump, put away anything that doesn’t work well, see what you have left and just add a few pieces from your regular wardrobe to make it work!
